New
Building Update
The
new building continues to progress. All the work continues to
move rapidly. The interior walls are up and drywalled - and the
first coat of paint was applied today (Ascenstion Thursday).
We'll be needing our volunteers REALLY soon to begin work on
the pews and laying tile and carpet in the new church. If you
volunteered, expect a phone call!
Everything
remains on track for a July 4 completion
date and July 27 dedication by Bishop Rhoades.. Mark your calendars!!!
St.
Jude, continue to pray for us.

"Spe
Salvi" (on Christian hope) is the second encyclical by
Pope Benedict XVI. It was released Nov. 30. It explores the essential connection
between faith and hope in early Christianity and addressed what
it called a "crisis of Christian hope" in modern times.
In the document available here the Pope has said, "Let us
put it very simply: Man needs God, otherwise he remains without
hope," The encyclical is recommended reading.
In
July of 2007, Bishop Kevin Rhoades came to Mifflintown to officially
break ground for our new church. On July 27, 2008, Bishop Rhoades
will RETURN to St. Jude to DEDICATE our new church building during
the 9:15am Mass. Mark your calendars and plan to be there! Just
as Bishop broke ground at the close of our Eucharistic Devotions,
so he will dedicate the new church as we open our Eucharistic
Devotions. There will be all-day adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
on July 27 until the closing service at 5pm followed by our famous
"pot-luck picnic." The Reverend Mr. Jonathan Sawicki will be our
homilist for our Eucharistic Devotions.
Mark
your calendars for Sunday, July 27, 2008!!
St.
Jude Thaddeus Parish Mission Statement
We,
St. Jude's Parish, a congregation of Catholic Christians, bound
together by our faith, support each other in our spiritual growth
and temporal well-being as a family of God. As a visible sign of
Christ's Church, we reach out to our community in love, sharing
our faith in Catholic witness and striving to strengthen the community
in which we live through the sharing of God's love given to all
through His Son, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
